Social Responsability New
To provide 8500 wells of water, in 8 Countries of Sub-Saharian Africa (Mauritania - Mali - Burkina Faso -Nìger - Chad - Sudan - Ethiopia and Eritrea), in a period of 23 years is the main goal set by the No-Profit Association "Pane & Rose" and its volunteers since 2001, in order to facilitate access to drinkingwater to more than two hundred million individuals. Although this project seems utopian, we must say that we need to dare and do our part! If we are numerous, the Water Road can become a reality.
WATER
This constitutes the base for our field intervention. We consider it a strategic and dynamic choice to reach the goals of our objectives.Without doubt we know that water is essential for all forms of life, like the scìentific research states: "The body of an adult man contains 60% of water, as to say about 42 liters of water for a person of 70 kg. (...) It's the brain that contains the greater quantitative of water, to a rate of 80% of the mass! Our muscles contain 75% of it and our bones 30%." We cannot expect that a strategy can work if the basic and essential element for all forms of life on the Earth is not guaranteed to the communities that suffer from its scarcity and the results of such scarcity.Therefore, we can immediately acknowledge the fact that, to allow these different communities of the Sahel region to have access to drinking water is fundamental for all the actions that will follow; this is valid above all in those countries where the children rate of mortality is equal to 209 to 1000, like in the case of the Chad. In Chad, only 20% of the births surpass the threshold of 5 years old, in life expectation.The death of newborns negatively influences the social stability of the country and denies the women the hope to conceive. The mothers' life ìs constantly exposed at extreme risks, The access to drinking water is a guarantee for the health of mothers and children. To have water available does not only allow children to have time for the school, but also offers the mothers the possibility of attending with dignity to the life of their family.
GENERAL OBJECTIVE
The main objeetive of "Green Sahara" is thè access to drinking water for the community of the eight countries of the Sahel region.

guarantee the autonomy of the community in their search for strategie solutions for the development of the region;
• the creation and promotion of a net of "microcredif within the community, by adopting a participated, inter-communal and
autonomous approach;

Pane e Rose is a non-profit non-governmental organisation for international solidarity. Its origins lie in an unprejudiced analysis of the current world situatton: a drama of enormous proportions that forces 80% of humanity to survive with difficulty and die early of illnesses that the remainìng 20% of humanity cannot even understand. It's a question of justice, much before we even speak of brotherhood, We cannot do anything other than respond to this with the firmest resistance, inspired by Galileo Galilei, Oscar Remero and Thomas Sankara.
